Legal Cashier REED ACCOUTANCY are working with an award-winning legal firm based in Southend who is looking for a Legal Cashier to provide maternity cover on a 12-month fixed-term contract basis , with the potential for a permanent position thereafter.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a legal account setting and a working knowledge of the SRA accounts rules.
Day to Day of the role: Processing bills and ensuring ledger accuracy.
Conducting client to office transfers.
Handling the accurate and timely processing of client and office account payments, including cheque production and telegraphic transfers via electronic banking.
Posting legal aid transactions and managing related processes.
Checking and balancing client completion statements and probate statements.
Calculating interest and ensuring compliance with money laundering regulations when processing transactions.
Assisting with daily bank reconciliations and managing outstanding receipts.
Managing petty cash and processing and paying expenses.
Assisting with purchase ledger transactions and general banking duties.
Performing analysis and ad hoc tasks as directed by the Finance Manager.
Providing cover for accounts staff during absences.
Ensuring strict adherence to Solicitors Accounts Rules and firm policies.
Maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Required Skills & Qualifications: Experience in a legal account setting.
Working knowledge of the SRA accounts rules.
Proficiency in electronic banking and transaction processing.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial matters.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
Good communication skills and a team player.
