Design Director at Prestigious International Design Studio - Edinburgh

Are you a Director ready to elevate your career at a leading international design studio in Edinburgh?

If your passion for innovative architecture drives you, this may be your next pivotal career move.

A renowned architecture and master planning practice is seeking a senior Design Director to join their dynamic team in Edinburgh.

This role offers an unparalleled opportunity to shape the future of diverse international projects, ranging from expansive master plans to detailed individual buildings. The practice is acclaimed for its commitment to multicultural and economically sound projects that resonate integrity and innovation.

As a Design Director, you will be pivotal in steering the studio's creative direction. You'll spearhead the conceptualization and curation of designs across various stages—from pre-concept and concept to competition phases. Your role will involve direct interaction with clients and external consultants, ensuring that every design not only meets but exceeds the highest standards of excellence.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is not just a visionary in architecture but also a leader capable of inspiring and developing a team. You will be responsible for nurturing the studio's culture, driving growth, and ensuring the profitability of design projects. Your leadership will not only influence the projects but also the professional growth of your team, making a lasting impact on the studio's legacy.

Qualifications and Experience:

You should be a degree-educated architect, ideally holding RIBA Parts 1, 2, and 3 or equivalent.

Registration as an architect (ARB or equivalent in your country of origin) is necessary.

Membership in RIBA or an equivalent body is preferred.

Your skills should include excellent design capabilities and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Exceptional communication and presentation skills are crucial.

We are looking for someone with at least 10-15 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role within a consultancy.

Your experience should span a variety of projects, including master planning, mixed-use urban planning, and typologies like office, hospitality, residential, cultural, and commercial sectors across international landscapes.

This position offers more than just a job; it's an opportunity to be at the forefront of architectural innovation in a city celebrated for its cultural heritage and architectural grandeur. You'll be working in an environment that encourages professional growth and values your contribution towards making a global impact through design.

If you are driven by design excellence and ready for a significant leadership role within a top-tier international practice, we encourage you to apply. This role promises not just a career transformation but also a platform to leave a global footprint in the architectural realm.

Please prepare to submit your CV and a sample portfolio (max 20MB) to showcase your prowess in architecture and leadership in design.

This position represents a strategic career move for those who are passionate about leading innovative and sustainable architectural solutions on an international stage. If this speaks to your professional aspirations, we look forward to your application.
