London’s average advertised salary nearly £11k above UK average

The average advertised salary in London is now nearly £11,000 higher than the national average.

Data from 657,915 jobs advertised in the last six months has just been analysed by jobs search engine AllTheTopBananas.com.

And it found that while the advertised average in London is £40,845, the advertised average across the rest of the UK (excluding London figures) is just £29,991.

The positions, advertised between November 2007 and April 2008, were analysed for AllTheTopBananas.com’s monthly salary index.

Every month it lists the average salary of all UK regions and the top 50 towns and cities, as part of its mission to be the UK’s most helpful jobs search engine

MD Dave Martin said: “London jobs naturally carry a weighting, but we are consistently seeing the gap between the capital and the rest of the country widen month after month.

“If this trend continues we could well see a £12,000 advertised difference by the start of next year.

Because of the unique way AllTheTopBananas.com gathers, collects and displays jobs from hundreds of partner websites across the UK, the site has access to enormous amounts of data about the UK jobs market.

Right now the site has 210,240 vacancies online.

Across the regions, Wales maintains its second place with an average advertised salary of £32,260.

East Anglia is in third place with an average advertised salary breaking through the £32,000 barrier, at £32,016.

And the North East is still at the bottom of the table on £27,806.

The full salary index is online at www.AllTheTopBananas.com/salary.
