Commercial Finance Manager
Pinpoint Resourcing are working with an exciting and rapidly growing Construction Company based in Chelmsford to source a Commercial Finance Manager on a permanent basis. This role will directly support the Head of Finance. The position is heavily remote and only requires someone to be in the office for 1 day per week.
Divisional Forecasting
· Main holder of the divisional profit and cashflow sheet investigating potential issues
· Update sheet with project specific information below
· Update sheet with general non-project related information such as overheads and non-project income
· Report on variances to forecast when results actualise
· Exposure to executive management who will be directly receiving the output from this role
Project Forecasting
· Attend regular meetings with the commercial teams building a relationship to facilitate information flow
· Awareness of detail surrounding individual project working capital
· Understanding of process surrounding projects, the sales pipeline and reporting on programme
· Update project forecasts on a regular basis adjusting profile of costs/revenues and margin where necessary
· Challenge forecasts made by the operations teams
· Report on any significant variations to project returns detailing the drivers of the issue
· Update & maintain the WIP on a monthly basis in line with the deadline
· Ensure monthly simPRO(ops system)/xero reconciliations agree to xero and are correctly loaded onto WIP file
· Liaise with sales ledger staff to summarise any late applications or certificates outstanding and load onto WIP report
· Ensure any invoices for Service/Smallworks/Remedial are in the correct place in the WIP file
· Resolve and discrepancies between the WIP sheet & the certificates, liaising with Finance Team & Project Managers as required
· Ensure subcontractor and client retentions reconcile between the WIP file & Xero
· Review outstanding debtors/creditors ledger with appropriate finance team members to ensure the correct actions are followed and project profiles reflect this
New Acquisitions
· Build relationship with relevant commercial resource within the acquired business becoming familiar with their operations
· Work with FD & HoF to quickly understand how existing information captured within the business can be harvested to translate into profit/cash forecast
· If insufficient, recommend who/what information must be collected
Other Duties
· Support the HoF/FD with any financial analysis as required
· Generally assist HoF with complex issues/tasks at month end
· Produce quality and timely reports as requested
· Streamline and drive continuous improvement within the finance function
· Develop, maintain and enforce appropriate financial policies, procedures and controls. Meet and liaise with team members to ensure these are embedded into daily/monthly procedures
· Other ad-hoc reports/duties as required
Requirements:
• Strong relationship skills
• Commercially astute with strong financial analysis experience
• Ability to think strategically as well as manage the detail
• Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or potentially qualified by experience)
• Experience partnering with and challenging "non-finance people"
• Clear communicator
• Self-starter
Salary : £60000 - £65000 DOE
Hybrid working : 4 Days from home, 1 in the office
