A heavy goods vehicle maintenance fitter / HGV mechanic reporting to the transport manager is urgently required to be responsible for the maintenance and inspection on the company’s fleet of HGV trailers and vehicles. The HGV maintenance fitter (mechanic) must adhere tothe legal standards required to ensure the vehicles are safe to deliver products to our well respected and loyal customers. The HGV maintenance fitter must have Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) knowledgeandexperience.
Onsite
Key Responsibilities
Service and inspect all vehicles to VOSA / DVSA standard
Diagnose and rectify any faults that may arise
Identify and order parts as and when required
Carry out breakdown when necessary
To complete and maintain all documentation on the company’s vehicle maintenance system
Required to work in a busy HGV workshop, previous experience is essential.
Responsibility for routine servicing and repairs; brakes; gearbox and clutch repairs
Ensuring that work is always to the highest standard, seeking to achieve and repeat business
ADR Experience and knowledge essential
Keep all workshop facilities, equipment and tools clean, tidy and well maintained
Wear personal protective equipment when appropriate
Carry out any reasonable duties as identified by your line manager or team leader
Ensure compliance with all contractual employment obligations.
Ensure compliance with our ISO standards.
Fully participate in the company's performance management and development programmes.
Maximise own ability to produce quality work, on time, and to brief, utilising best skills and available technology.
Work in accordance with the Company's Human Resources policies and procedures.
Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
Experience
Several years’ experience as a heavy good vehicle (HGV) maintenance fitter
Must have experience in heavy vehicle maintenance, repair and diagnostic
Must have Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR) knowledge essential
VOSA/DVSA standards
