Salary: £24,000 to £26,000 FTE

We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to provide essential support to our Finance Manager. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong administrative skills with a good understanding of financial concepts and accounting systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for keying in data, compiling information, and ensuring the accuracy of financial transactions.

Day to Day of the Role: Enter and code financial transactions appropriately.

Process financial documents such as invoices and credit notes.

Validate invoices against items or services received and reconcile with departmental billings.

Maintain and create new supplier records in the accounting system.

Key data into the company accounting system diligently.

Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and reduce company costs.

Make bank deposits and maintain accurate records.

Manage petty cash transactions effectively.

Track expenses related to specific projects and jobs.

Ensure all financial transactions are accurate.

Disburse funds as required and develop relationships with external advisors, such as banks and invoice financing entities.

Perform other duties as requested by the Finance Manager and/or Finance Director.

Required Skills & Qualifications: Proven experience with bookkeeping practices.

Knowledge of accounting terminology, rules, and legislation.

Proficiency in Sage50 Accounts and an understanding of Xero.

Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite.

Familiarity with filing systems and administrative procedures.

Excellent mathematical skills.

Strong organisational and attention to detail.

Analytical skills with the ability to detect inconsistencies.

Effective prioritisation and communication skills.

Proficient in data entry with a focus on accuracy.
